Valentines Get-Away

Thomas and I took a quick get away for Valentines Day. We stayed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Mississippi. We had a great time and plenty of entertainment. Especially from the drunk guy that caused a huge disturbance at 3 am a few doors down. A fight broke out in the hall and ended up with the guy locking himself in his room, screaming obscenities, getting tasered by the cops and an hour later being hog-tied, with his hands and legs tied behind him, laying face down and rolled out on a gurney. As he is having his "roll of shame" down the hall he was screaming at the top of his lungs, "I was on a winning streak, man! I was on a winning streak." Not anymore, the only thing he won was a huge hang over, a night in jail and one expensive night. But we got a free room out of the deal, so it looks like we are the ones who benefited from his drunken madness.
On our way home we went through Ocean's Springs to see some of the damage Hurricane Katrina did. Thomas worked a summer there restoring a historical house that was still privately owned by a family from New Orleans. It was so pretty when they(Thomas, my dad & my brother) finished it. You can see from the picture that Katrina did a number on it. It had a really charming wrap around porch that is no longer there and all the windows were blown out. It is being raised so they can move it off the lot. Since it is a historical house they did not tear it down and hopefully someone will restore it if possible. The apartment complex that we stayed in that summer was located across the street from the beach. The whole complex and the one next to it is gone. We have so many wonderful memories of the summer we spent there and it is so surreal to go back to a place and it is no longer there, completely wiped from the Earth, so that it only exists in memories.
